New Zealand Working Holiday (NZWH) is one of the pathway to improve and learn English? Seriously?!

It cannot be judged if you fork out money to learn English language and take lessons from any ideal language schools or institution in New Zealand who conduct neutral English . Or you choose to leave your native (Chinese/Asian) friends and started to social with English speaking group of people which helps you make sense to improve your English conversation.

Are you seriously want to learn English in New Zealand by trying to talk and speak more with the kiwis or New Zealanders? Are you serious?

Apparently there are many Chinese Malaysians who applied to NZWH-ers dialect in Chinese but not much in English. Understand that most of the useful articles and journals are all in Chinese Language and perhaps it becomes an inspiration who those mastered in Chinese Language are “wanting” to learn English as an enhancement, NZWH hence a tiny-pavement for them.

In my opinion, many had read about blogs and readings through Taiwanese posts that most of their motive and purpose to go New Zealand is to learn English. And many Chinese Malaysians “ follow” their trend.

Eh??!!!

Malaysia punye English got that BAD meh?

Most of us are educated since very young age until finished school and even though our job interviews mostly conducted in English. What for still learning it?

Taiwanese who 80s, 90s- born usually had their lesson when they were in secondary or high school (estimate 13 years-old) during their normal schooling time (if they don't take extra English tuition).

Malaysians learn English SINCE kindergarten. (Learn A B C D song.. in age of 5 leh)

Although our English might not that good, but I believe most of us can have simple conversation and basic understanding if we really need to speak it out.

Do you really want to go New Zealand and to learn English?

Do you know How they speak their native language?

Can you handle their slang and pronunciation?

These are few Examples where most of people who lived in New Zealand before / living there might or not , they counter....

When people say “Thank you” to you... What do you reply?

What had your English teacher taught you if people say 

“Thanks / Thank you /Thank you very much” ?

In normal way as what we learnt : “ You're welcome” - - That's the most correct ever answer than we ever thought. Right?

In New Zealand (or in Australia) , it is “No Worries”. (this is probably not from the English lesson)-

-What kind of problems that I need to be worried by accepting your “Thank you” ???

( got no clue on this)

If the greeting usually in “How are you?” (normally hear them greet in supermarket) but , the native is: “ You alright?”-

-My face look sick and not alright?

In this case, when I first experienced, I always say “doing good” or “alright / good” 

I got a shock I thought that there is a serious problem when they ask me whether am I alright. (Hilarious)

Other than people who call you (if they don't know your name) : “ Oy / Oi” (Malaysian do this as well but this is not a good manner). When they have hesitation of similar to situation of “Pardon me?” It is : “ Aye ? / Ei?” …. that means something like “ Hah?! I cannot hear you, speak again!”

So what we say “ hah?” Kiwi says “Aye?” (with doubt)

Your home-stay or bbh host might approach you in the kitchen and say “ Hi, Are you cooking tea?”

“Tea?!”

Me: “No, this is my dinner”

“Tea” means “Dinner” OK....

About the pronunciation, where we mostly encounter... It depends on the location but this slang normally comes from South Island.

Ten : we say it as “tan with the -a- sound”, but the kiwi pronounce it as “tin / teen”

same as Seven is “sivin /seeven” , egg is “igg / eeg”

but No.8 “Eight” is “EYEght”

knackered – you heard it as NAKED (That's why Naked bus), this word I think it comes from England, but I don't know why just can't just say “tired”.

In New Zealand – you will hear people keep saying “cool” instead of Everything. Like : “That's cool” which means good (maybe).

People say “smoko” for break time, go to the “chemist” instead of Pharmacy... And many many more. Or “Heaps” of them.....

Those languages probably are mixed from different people with speaking native English such as England (especially Scotland and Ireland's English will kill people) , Europe, and Indian (pattern) as well.

The very nicest thing in New Zealand is, when they speak to tourist or migrants , they will make it sounds clear and simple and understandable. (Still need compliment)

-Well, for me, If I don't understand, I will just say I don't understand-Or just ignore..

What's the point you speak something that you expect people don't get the meaning of it??

Because when I speak English to foreigners , I'll try to avoid “Mah”, “Lah” , “Meh”.... 

If not, do you think they understand Manglish?

- But some of them who see you are Asian will purposely jumble their words and make you clueless and the whole English phrase will sound like French, Spanish and Italian (mix). I did not hope to see that especially when I was on the bus ride and especially the driver speak through the microphone, all I heard was annoying sound came out from nose.

So, you still sure you want to learn English in New Zealand?

You also have to make sure people won't laugh at you if you speak in this way.

If you were to spend time or your objective is to learn New Zealand English, you might consider to learn many different kind of English as well. British English, American English, or Indian English.

Sarcastic : Best Tips on New Zealand Working Holiday Application for Malaysian, Congrats 2016!

Dear lovely applicants,

First of all, congratulation to all of your success. Approved or not, you made it. 20 January 2016

However, point of view from the time consumed from clicking into the web site, typing your names and etc.,selecting the answer, and finally submit with payment, it took approximately of 6 hours. From 5am to 11am (Malaysia Time), and most of the time candidates were refreshing their pages, struggling with frustration and averagely took 5 to 6 hours to complete an online form. (Seriously?!)

Now, here are what I discovered that caused a lagged and stunned page of New Zealand Immigration website.

What had you genius-ly done with such consequences?

• Many people viewing the same website, same page, same time.

Just like Air Asia first had their promotion of free seats that it put everyone waiting on queue to book their tickets. Many started to complaint that the page was very slow, can't even click into it, no more promotion seats, it cheats people.Well, secondly, we have no idea how many working holiday vacancies are actually occupied to individual candidates, who are there? Are they real? Really 1150 space for all? Or person that hired by “someone” to do the application thou? Web page problem without improvement?

It could be a long-way-process research to look into for. Still, there is no organisation to help fixing this, but MANY started encourage each other to FIGHT and who cares that there are existing problems?

For the very future working holiday applicants in this year (remaining pop-up spaces) or 2017, below is the tips and methods and step to apply New Zealand working holiday visa:

- Make sure you wake up early. (better don't sleep for the whole night)-

• Update and upgrading their Networking system, change portal and etc. (Google optic world map and see which country has the best internet system ever)

• How to overcome it and using other country's location. (The whole world's location discovered)

• Ask New Zealand friends to help apply (because it is faster)

• Ask their Mother, Father, Brother Sisters and family-in-law in New Zealand and other country to help apply (Family Team work)

• One people open-many-same-browser/page-refresh-refresh-refresh-redirect-redirect (and then hanged)

• Many-Many people different computers open and login to same page and focus apply for the same ONE ID (What the F***).

• Use mobile and laptop and desktop computer and office server computer and many other gadgets at the same time (very multi-tasking useful 3c item)

There might be very useful tips that I might come to in future, and oops, I merely forget that there is qualification needed as requirements to apply NZWH programme.

• Must have a basic understanding/knowledge on how to make your internet faster or how supportive is your server which equivalent to O level.
• Preferable with qualification certificate relates to IT/Computer Science/Network System
• Relevant working experiences such as IT professions, any Intelligent Agencies, CIA will be a great advantage.
• However, if you have a great social network background and have many family members and friends and relatives will be a competitive advantage. (Who can able to assist)

“You can just be a hacker to hack into it to apply” - fastest and more furious.

All of the answerable questions which are important in the progress - - are-to-be omitted if you made mistakes.

Mistakes such as:

“Aiya, I wrongly key in my Date of Birth, what should I do?”

“It supposed to be Yes, But I click No- I need to email/call the officer, call no answer?”

“Anyone put Yes or No?”

“My page hanged in the middle, should I just proceed? Will the officer block me?”

I am speechless with all these that happened in nowadays, healthy or not, good or bad influences, it is not me to judge. But I am foreseeing a really bad phenomenon in future. Anyway good luck who those got this opportunity and I do hope it will not affect the future applicants.

New Zealand Working Holiday : Think before Application

I would like to share and express my feeling and thoughts for the get-ready-apply for the New Zealand working holiday applicants. Each year, and this year the application fall on 20 January, therefore, most of the forums and pages are becoming crowded as usual. The most awkward thing for me are the complaints of some asking silly questions by totally-fully blanked individual. Ie. . How to apply ? What is working holiday? How much I can earn? How can I stay there?

If you are the one who got the most interest to explore this program though these questions shouldn't be asked. These questionable people who apply is a total waste of time and effort.

Well, but this scene does not seem it happen much in previous years as most of the ex-wher usually do their own homework before asking relevant questions. The main reasons of this is because the widely spread news by the social media and channels that provide different kind of sources of information. For instance, a web page with a huge title “ New Zealand is opening quotas for Working Holiday on 20 January”, “Let's go New Zealand to work and Travel”, and even “ Malaysia Economy depreciating, go New Zealand working holiday”. People will just think and click on it without hesitation as this is really tempting. Then, they will join groups and bombing continuous questions they eager for answer, because what they thought is people who got experience could give “DIRECT” advice.

Anyway, Economy not good has what to do with New Zealand working holiday?

• Think wisely before you act

This program is getting more trendy each year and every one is being influenced that they can be one of them who can live in another land. So did I. However, most of us are acting overwhelmed on how good it will be if I am able to work and holiday in NZ (New Zealand). Thanks to people who share their positive mindset and fantasies their dream in NZ. Through websites, books on store and many kind of articles that only publish the “correct” way of “promoting” this program. The are darkness, negative issues, illegal actions, law breakers.These seems like nonsense but it should be taken into consideration. Those issues might not happened on ourselves, but you can be frighten if happened to others as well. 

For example, sexual harassment, discrimination, and most common illegal work. In future as I predict, there might be Malaysian agent who will offer an huge price RM3000 or more to guarantee you to work in New Zealand by including flight tickets, visa (it might fake), accommodation and work. (It is a scam thing that is happening now in NZ but most of them are China man, minority Malaysian)

You want it to be like peaceful and live happily ever after OR a hell dungeon place where people only go there to struggle and blood-work for dollar $$$?. Urging those who want to apply this program should take accountability to avoid traditional and selfish thinking. It is so unfair to the others if you made the wrong decision as it might create a bad working holiday phenomenon and such consequences is unbearable.

• Create a Balance “ Working” and “Holiday”, Tolerance

Let's talk about the Holiday. If you consider a holiday or a visit of friends and family in NZ that it is a nice place to do it, due to geographically wise that produced fresh air, hiking and trekking must-go destination, beautiful scene, fresh food and dairies, you DO NOT NEED to apply visa under working holiday scheme. A visitor visa of three months is well sustainable and sufficient enough for you to “ re-charge” your self. Thus, you can save up to NZD 200++ for the application, visitor visa is FREE and do not need to apply for it. If you think that three months is just too fast and still something must do in your to-do list, extension visitor visa is applicable then you might need some time to explore on the website for the next step.

If you are unsure that you want to apply working holiday or not, this is a good way to have a holiday first. Perhaps, the next year you might really want to stay and work in NZ, you will consider to apply for Working Holiday then. For those are working, you should consider to take a walk and trek on your nearest route, swim, believe me, it is stunning and the view is free. Act determine, other wise, you'll miss it, many people miss it.

*p/s : if you are so hien and rich, apply mat cha working holiday la ??!! You just go there expense what, your purpose also not live for life, making everything so congested only lor. Samo spend money to apply WH then go there holiday. Not even work for a job for a week and not even TRY!

There are many ways to work, and different kind of work you might find. It can be work for wages that you get paid, or woof-ing (don't get paid, but a place for you to stay). However, once you work you should work as hard as you can, that this is a commitment. Please do not think as you just come here to “experience” or to “ play-play”, then you simply work. I read something from a Taiwanese source before, that the author is discouraging people to put effort on work, “ aiya, I come here is to experience the lifestyle here, if I don't like just don't want work, or, Work so hard what for? I am not here to hard-work.”

Well, I believe there is no employer to hire such attitude employees, with a standard fix legally wages, hourly, by-contract, smoko time (break time), and benefits, this attitude in working is really pissing off the employers. However, when it comes to wages get paid is the not correct amount, it will become a big issue. Now, think back, did you ever contribute as much to get that amount of wages thou? I understand that there is a black market work force, and you just being protective, but what caused this? This is chicken and egg issue, is the employer becomes mean first? Or the worker not working hard? NZ's work is not difficult as you thought

• Age 18 to 30, why ?

Do you ever think why that there is a limitation of this age range? In my opinion, this has many facts that NZ put this age range for the working holiday applicants. These ages prove you as category of “young adult” as this means you are mature enough to take any responsibilities. The ability of thinking and making the correct decision rationally. Be disciplined and independent , able to take care your self, and able to help the weak. Meanwhile, you are proved that physically fit as NZ takes consideration that workers might or not involve in agriculture jobs that work outdoor, also it is to encourage the youngsters to contribute on their increasing produce.

The all facts that I mentioned above is already a very good answer for applicants who parents always ask them or even discourage them moving abroad to study, to work or to live. Unless, you got nothing capable. However, in some situation, age should not be discriminated. Most importantly, an open heart, kindness to others, prepared and be independent shows more than your age and appearance. Ie. Some already 30's are actually think thought like a school kid.

I read a post that say “a day of working wages he got is NZD4”. What the hell is going on there? Did you just worked 10 minutes a day or what? Do you think about is that logic before complaint?

• NZ Working Holiday is a Last Resort for all Malaysian.

Apparently, YES because your attitude shows! Except NZ, Australia is another working holiday destination for Malaysian 100 vacancies to apply each year only! Nevertheless, NZ is another optimum option as it is quite near, quite cheap flight fare, easy-going place.

In other words, it is another best way to escape (getting another kind of visa and PR lar), partner with a local, find related required skilled jobs, study and work there and etc. And, who wish to come back to Malaysia which a hellhole place? Would you go Kuantan to do trekking and picnic ah? Or will you suck the haze flew from Indon? With all the affects, people fight for it to another part of the world, and we look like another kind of refugees.

Nothing will change in this wonderful land NZ, no matter you go there this year, or after 10 years, Mt Cook will still standing there, Queenstown is still the same view, there heaps of sheep (there is not much change that's why some of them feel boring). Except human being, people will change in NZ, from good to bad, vice versa. And what relates more to human, it is the work or jobs. There is no guarantee what can be going on if you reach there, things cannot say.

I am not showing off how good and enjoyable when I was in NZ and how bad is the working environment and the service there. Take a balance, do not over trust the articles you read online or even books, as I mentioned, people will change. And I do believe and having a strong faith that Malaysian community education and culture may lead most of us to open mind thinking. Please do not be the one of “follow-book” and practice what the book says.

Reliable or not, is for you to judge. Hell know how much the publisher paid to one who wrote to promote this program and how much benefits they might get behind.

Working Holiday is very common and healthy program for any who eligible. But, will get rogue. 

My Wishes TO-DO for Year 2016

Happy New New Year for who are reading this. Hola, it has been an amazing year of 2015 that I've been through, where else, I am basically spent much of my time in Australia, Vic, Mildura for my working holiday (it is a very trendy lifestyle for the youngsters nowadays).

Certainly, and eventually but hardly say sadly, I am not repeating the same lifestyle that I was going through in overseas. Yet, I am planning to stay-stick in Malaysia for this first with a 2 years estimated time frame. In the mean while, I am going to stuck my life BACK to the very city-ish living.

What in my 2016 Wishlist?

I am not going to plan to buy New car, New houses, New MATERIALS, getting rich nor having fancy travel to Europe. As am not a materialistic person ; so not am I going to wish for getting healthy, loose weight (as I believe this already been a practice in my life which I using to be, and I not going to make it in my wishlist or to-do list) . 2016 would be a little bit abstract for me.

My To-Do Wishlist 2016

1. Keep Study

I study all the time, reading, listening and watching regardless of media / channel sources. Study seems to be an UPGRADE for me (and that is what I always think) which I don't need material to upgrade myself (that is how abstract I am talking about). Therefore, I "die-die" put myself  into an MBA program. Using my own pocket money plus EPF savings. And my balance of it will be zero.




2. Time for my dog

For God sake, my two lovely lil dogs still alive at the time I was back home this December. So do I, really missing you, where every time I was working in the farm, every night when I was sleeping. All the while I was thinking that I might gonna lose another doggy when I out for working holiday, a very tragic to Oscar (a shih-tzu) who I cannot meet him as he was just gone in year 2014. Ironically, I am truthfully complaining on how my parents treated them that bad. Mickey (a pug) was so skinny when that time I came home, Willy ( a mini-pinsch mix) is getting more timid and afraid of human and lack of being social. These two years, I am going to spend time with them, yet, I will find chances to meet the strays at the PAWS-houses.



3. Be a volunteer

There are plenty of old-folks homes, Children for hopes' houses, Stray pet shed. Why not give a try to do some little thing for them. I am confident-ally 100% capable of doing that. Giving myself a chance to help and to know more about the situation. How encourage-able it is! However, I am not thinking to work for free if I do think that the employer is able to pay wages. Charity work is strictly applicable to person/ community or organisation who really in need of care, fraud and cheating is a NO-NO, also employer who are stingy enough will get karma-return.




4. Selling and giving out unused item

No idea that my house full of unwanted recycling bags, and unused item, I wish I have a stall, and quick sell / giving out everything that I am not going to use it. Wisely organised, I hope all the stuff can be cleared within a given time frame by myself. As it is sad to say, there is no second-hand shops around Malaysia, and people here find second-hand stuff (ie. shoes and clothes) are quite neglect-able.



Those are my small little wishlist of 2016, they seems realistic, and accountable, and achievable. I do hope the community will have similar wishes as I do in order to contribute a"pay-back" to the world itself. Keeping yourself developing in "money-terms", properties and any materials that could / might ease your hunger-mind of "ownership" of some "things" that cannot bring a more civilized environment. Albeit economically grown, human are getting selfish than we ever thought nowadays.

What a "What the Hell" feeling after the class over on that day!

Felt so angry of such impolite manner that faced on my teaching class.
I really do not know how to describe this until I have confirmed the observation for this situation.

After months of Japanese class. I am now able to put out some little phrases to convince public here.
Haha, and well, I am lucky enough to get a piano teaching job near that area before my depart.

Well, it is so lucky.

I do not know what more does the adult expect me to me more over. As I can now survive and live lively. I mean the older adults.

And I have being so numb to talk to my father already. And there's no conversation with him since "Don't know". Just lazy to open my mouth wide for him. Useless.

I do have doubt on this page, sometimes, it could be shown in my facebook page, and sometimes it just be invisible for others.

Due to the very heavy work load and life crumbs these days, speaking out through written my blog is just making my finger, move, not move, move and not move.

My mind keeps controlling me, and just shout, what you want more till? to the adult. What they want, but not I want. They really do expect I do things that not even in my life plan. I may take the road less travelled. And at that time, they think it is a short cut either way. I wish I can ask them : "What else?" . (with a knife on my hand) . Whether that I kill you, or, I kill myself.

They have no right to infringe my own expectation that leads, should I lodge a case to court on this?

Having no idea how could this surrounding ends. Unless, they are all death. Playing death, being death.

Well just knowing your left and I got a shocked on this shocking information retrieve on website.
Thanks to the high development technology today that can link world wide.

Your left is a waste, a lost for the community. I can feel the persistence that you insist on things. I can feel that your contribution is a use for the societies and the members who surround you. I can feel that you keep this ill in silence until the moment you leave. Not many people knows that. And this already 2 plus years ago.

From the start that we knew you as our mentor. I remember that once you told me to hold on and not to be sad forever if someone's lost. Because you still need to live on and you are still alive.

I do pray (religiously) that your families and friends can now having the strength to live on and gay.  Treat what you had left are those good memories even though a short one but memorable. 2 plus years, I figure this out quite late.

I'm not planning to letting my parents know this mournful information. and as you wish, will keep it still in silence until they question.

Rest in peace. Get a better life in your new one, as I do believe that everything in this universal is in a cycle.
We all will be meeting up again.

New Year, new dream, new life, new occasion, new thinking, new mind, new look....

The most excited goose-bumping feel that day. Oh hew   ~ ~ ~ took a deep breath released after seeing the status is been approved. What ?!! Oh Yeah, that's it is.

Every when what's my mom think that I could not get it, and then, I got it. Thanks for the faith indeed.

Yes, this is all about application for the New Zealand Working Holiday Visa that I was eagerly wanting since last year. Overcome all the obstacles in my mind, my head, my think, with a minimal sort of application research, and then, that is the decision I made.

Clicking on the "Submit" which is so unconformable. And then started to think the "What If" theory. Oh Damn!

That is not the most suffering one so far. Yet, there are still a lot of explanation which consumes more of my energy and watery mouth to my parents for that planning. Fear, trust-worthy, and then she got a lot / more than of "What If" theory in her mind. Haizzz, couldn't them be more modernized.

And now, I would like to tell you what I'm thinking......

And I think, and truly think that freedom of growth, power of wisdom, uncovered mindset is the most important virtual for me nowadays. Am getting older and life been 25 more years now. And what do I get, what did I get? What do I have? Sophistication point of view, the maturity way of thoughts?

I do realize getting flying colors in my exams and they are just flying colours. Buying properties and earning money and they are just money and properties. You may think it is the most prosperous life you have with material.  But "What If" ......

Seeing friends putting on their gown walking down to the aisle, seeing them getting profits buying shares and doing well sales. Driving nice car, living nice houses. And they almost own many things in their life, and then, they will have kids, and will be seeing them doing the same recycling life that they used to. Perhaps it will be differently odd, but still in the same cycle.

I hope that cycle will stop when my generation.

Respect not to the eldest one, but it is to degree: Respect to the characteristics and it always kept in heart NOT MOUTH! Polite not equivalent how you greet the respective,  it is the manners that you present for something.

Fight is not brutal, but to show rights by emotional.

Not only Americans, but the nations with the attitude practicing in life.

Honestly, I never travel as far as this before, and I do remember once I got my degree in 21 age, jobs come first. I do not regret on what I did. For that situation, what I really need was "Money and car" And that saved me. Money was so important for me, working hard, pretending strong on my daily basis and it continuously living till now....

The world is as big as unimaginable. But why human's just thinking what's their ancestors thought. And ancestors generated to another generation.

I would rather adopt a child in orphanage instead giving birth my self. Getting a companion instead of getting married. Be a lobo instead obedient girl staying at house.

All those facts have changed my mind and it grows gradually. The innovation is still under implementation.

And please do forgive my rebel of such thinking.... *not being religious...

New Year ... NEW ZEALAND .. here I start my journey and hope it would never ends...

Got 2 days holiday-Conversation of 513 Malaysia Happening

yeah yeah, strumming my chords for these 2 days. I got 2 days holiday and i sleep till pass after 12pm. Hooray.

Watched "Woohoo" a CNY comedy movie series which stars by FM and Astro. Till after 11pm. got my brother into car and prepared to drive home. Four of us inside this situation, inside the car.

and the conversation starts like this. >

Brother: ah mi, ah pa, actually hor? how 513 incident happen in Malaysia?

Mom: All Malaysian having fighting that time lor. U go internet search la, or go see books, books got write mah ~

Brother: My teacher ask us to do project, he says he wants us to find the really "TRUTH" one, cannot copy from books or internet, must interview those people who really experienced it wor ~

Me: all die liao lor ~ " 含家产"

Mom: it happened hor, because of the erection time lor, that time we call DAP as rocket one. That time they won already, then ma go road there celebrate, then others no like what they done, ma use gun shoot them lor. first first leh ~ those people no matter u malay, chinese or indians, they also kill, but look see look see, really abnormal lor.... they only kill chinese, saw chinese then they kill, then we went into curfew lor... that time i very small (young) only. What to do, at that time MCA oso no power one, eventhough saw chinese dying in the situation.


Dad: No No. Not like one. At that time leh, that erection actually already very obvious that rocket would win for that territory already.
